close of summer

I’ve lived in my house for a little over two years now, and I’ve realized something about myself: I don’t draw much in the summer, because I spend most of my ‘creative energy’ time gardening.

I have a 9-5 (or more) day job and a 45 minute commute, so my free time after work, and on the weekends, is at a premium. In the spring and summer, I can’t resist my garden…and also if I stop taking care of it, it’ll dry out or get overrun.

I’m not complaining, but now it’s fall and for the second year in a row, I’m overwhelmed with stalled-out art projects! Time to buckle down, I guess, but I still wish I had a little more summer.
